Letter to an Abuser:
You're false and manipulative and
crazy-making.
You build nothing.
You just tear down and destroy.
You've cursed and beaten me
and blamed me for the abuse.
You’ve succeeded in replacing
respect with fear
in your tightly controlled world.
Others, at least for a while, think
that you're great when you are not.
I spend way too much time trying to
figure out why you're so messed up.
You're weak and pretend to be
strong.
You're self-pitying.
Nothing is your fault but you make
everyone around you miserable.
You don’t listen to anyone but
yourself.
I have never felt this way about
another human being.
I must forgive you so I can be free
of you.
And so I do.
